Wash
DCBS is committed to improving public health and dignity through focused interventions in Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), especially in underserved rural areas and schools.
School-Based WASH Program:
With CSR support from Narayana Health, DHOSA successfully implemented a comprehensive WASH program in government schools for girl students across South 24 Parganas and Howrah districts of West Bengal. The initiative focused on:
- Hygiene awareness and behavioural change education
- Menstrual health management sessions
- Distribution of hygiene kits
- Installation of safe, girl-friendly sanitation infrastructure
This program has significantly contributed to reducing school absenteeism among adolescent girls and improving health outcomes.
Sanitation Infrastructure under Swachh Bharat Mission:
Between 2014 and 2019, DHOSA played a vital role in the Swachh Bharat Mission by facilitating the construction of over 10,000 household toilets in various districts of West Bengal and Bihar. These efforts helped promote open defecation-free (ODF) communities and strengthened hygiene practices at the grassroots level.
Through its WASH initiatives, DCBS continues to champion clean water access, safe sanitation, and hygiene education—empowering individuals and communities for a healthier tomorrow.
